About the artist

Andria Alex is a contemporary painter “Rooted in the Rhythm of Nature” whose work moves fluidly and organically.  Her paintings are about capturing a feeling, a moment, an emotional imprint.  Her practice invites the viewer into an energetic and unique space. Each piece serves as a meditation on impermanence, beauty, and the restorative power of the natural and nourishing world. She is an environmentalist, ocean conservationist, and a strong plant-based vegan advocate and amateur Chef.

Andria’s professional experience is as “Scenic Artist”, a stage set and backdrop painter for LORT B theaters including Goodspeed Musicals and Hartford Stage Company, and Charge Scenic Artist at TheaterWorks Hartford from 2006-2013. Andria is currently a studio painter, and has a studio in Old Saybrook that is open by appointment. She exhibits in galleries and holds “Open Studios” frequently at her magnificent studio, sign up for her email list for more info!

Andria is the Founding President of The East Haddam Art League, a member of The Essex Art Association, The Lyme Art Association, and Clinton Art Society. She is also a member of “Save the Sound”, and volunteers to support action in preservation of our shoreline wildlife and ecology.

Awards

·         Sept. 2026 Best Mixed Media for “Gilded Minnows” in “Celebrating EAA’s 80th yr” at Essex Art Association.

·         2025 Gantner Gallery Award for "Rapid Flow", one of the pieces inspired by yoga practice. The Gantner award also provides a Solo Exhibition for June of 2026 at EAA. The Gantner Gallery Award is a once-in-a-lifetime award and is the Essex Art Association's highest tribute to an artist. It is given to one artist during each EAA show. It allows the recipient to present a body of work in a dedicated gallery space during a show at our galleries. This award is in honor of Bob Gantner’s steadfast and caring 20 years of service to the Essex Art Association
